Oil industry safety directorate ministry of petroleum & Natural Gas organised a webinar on June 8, 2021 to observe World Environment Day. Noted environmentalist padma shree sunita narain delivered the theme address on "Ecosystem Restoration: Rebuilding relationship with nature". In his address during the event, sunil kumar joint secretary, highlighted various government policies and initiatives targeted to reduce carbon footprint. He highlighted the recent announcement by the Prime Minister that India will advance by five year to 2025, its deadline for blending 20% ethanol in petrol. The welcome address was delivered by Arun Mittal, ED-OISD. Noted academicians from IIT and JNU, government officials and experts from Oil & Gas industry enriched the audience with their knowledge. More than 700 participants joined the webinar online from all over the country. The day-long event was moderated by Dr Naveen Raj, Environment Consultant. Piyush Goyal, Minister for Railways and Commerce & Industry and Consumer Affairs, Food & Public distribution reviewed the preparations of railways including northern railway on june 10, 2021. Speaking on the occasion he said that the Railways in India needs to be fully prepared for the monsoon. The minister examined current status of vulnerable areas and reviewed plans that railways is committed to ensure that no incovenience is caused to Mumbaikars the preparedness of the Suburban Railways, the minister advised the railways to partner with instiutions like IIT Mumbai to study the efficiency of technical and civil work initiatives of railways in handling monsoon rains. He said innovation and hard work must go together to ensure that Railways services continue to operate safely and in an uninterrupted manner.
